Hello everyone,
My name is Melissa Wheeler. I have lived in Boise for 13 years. I have also lived in Salt Lake City, Utah and Orlando, Florida. In the cold winter months I sometimes miss that Florida sunshine! I love to travel and have been to 43 US States, Canada, Mexico, Spain, France, Portugal, Jamaica, Haiti, the Bahamas, Costa Rica, Panama, and Barbados. My next trip, in May, is going to be spending two weeks in Alaska; which is one of my favorite places. I also love sports and try to support the local teams as much as I can.
I plan on teaching high school English and maybe going on to teach at the college level. I plan on having my students submit their papers electronically. I want to prepare my students for life after high school, whether that is college or working. I plan on using a variety of mediums for my students to do assignemts with; whether with PowerPoint, Excel, Word, etc. I also plan on keeping a class website where the sylabus and assignments/rubrics will be located.
The tool that I enjoyed using the most this class has been the easy test maker. I liked that you were able to change the order of things and go back and edit after you had finished a section. I also liked the fact that it could create different versions of the same test for you, instead of having to go and manually make the changes. I think that using this website will make it a lot easier for teachers to create tests.

Melissa,
ReplyDeleteWow! I wish I could travel like that. I haven't even been to Crater's of the Moon and I have lived in Idaho all my life. You will have so many great stories to tell your future students. I hope you take lots of pictures. I like the idea of having your students submit things electronically. It cuts down on environmental waste and forces them to use technology. I liked the test maker website, too. I can't believe how easy it made things! It is so much fun to explore all the things you can do with technology these days!
Where are you going in Alaska? My fiance and I are from there. We are actually going back there for our wedding in May. I hope it is nice for both of us.
ReplyDeleteSarah, I am going on a cruise, so we will be going to Ketchican, Juneau, Sitka, Skagway, and those are the only places I can think of right now. What part of Alaska are you going to?
ReplyDeleteI would love to travel overseas! I am hoping the military will take us that direction while I am still young. It would still be nice if I had kids when it happened because then they could take that experience with them as well. I think I would like to teach at a college level as well, not right away but later on in life when I have learned from my mistakes and gained some knowledge about teaching and what works for me. Have a great time on your cruise that'll be a blast.
